Mallorca - Part 2

Today's road trip took us North of Palma into the mountain ranges.

The views were breathtaking, some of the best we have ever seen. In a short distance, you go from arid plains to rocky cliff faces and coastal woodland.  Here is a taste of what we've seen, though photos really don't do it justice.

Banyalbufar terraces:


Valldemosa only seen briefly from a distance due to horrendous traffic:

Apparently Deia near by is also worth a visit, but again we skipped it wanting to make our final destination before sunset.

Soller town itself was touristy and didn't have the right vibe to hang out in:



But, the Port of Soller 4km away was very charming.  


We stopped there for lunch by the water.

Next, we travelled down a very windy but simply spectacular mountain road to a holiday town and beach called Sa Calobra.  A few hairy moments as the two-way road was only barely a car and a half wide in places with cliffs on either side:





Finally, more views on the way through Pollenca to our final destination the Lighthouse of Formentor right on the North-East tip of the island:
